The time modules from CPAN are pretty good - I think they can do this. I
am thinking of using the ParseDate module for my changes, as it would be
very convenient to use the unix format time to 'expire' visits. This is a
bit cleaner than using minutes and seconds with conditionals for $timeout
minutes after midnight. Maybe slower though...
