I ran in to this problem a few weeks ago so I know what this is. The
address "...in-addr.arpa" is a result of a configuration mistake on the
client end. It comes from forgetting to put an extra period on the end
of the listed internet address. The address of the client is resolved!
Look at my example:
fortitude.monroe.lib.in.us.120.106.206.in-addr.arpa
fortitude.monroe.lib.in.us -- is the actual name of the machine.
120.106.206 -- is the reversed IP address of the machine.
in-addr.arpa -- is a tag put on the end of mistaken addresses.
Unfortunately for me, the above address of the Monroe County Library
here in Bloomington and I run the logs for Indiana University's WWW
server so this comes up in the log file a lot.
