Getting Daily Statistics

I have read both the manual and the mail archives. Unfortunately, I was
not able to determine how to get what my client wants.

My client wants daily statistics, for example, how many hits did this URL
get yesterday? how many today? He wants each daily file saved.

Here's what I have in my daily.local file:

create-wwwstats virtualdomainname

Here's what I have in create-wwwstats:

wwwstat -daily -d '16/Dec/1996' -l -u -r /usr/var/log/httpd/$1/access_log
> /usr/home/clientname/public_html/$1/usage/$1-stats-121696.html

The reason for the $1 is to plug in the virtual domain name. This client
has three.

However, this is not working to give me the daily statistics I
described. I know I'm not following the manual, if I was it would work,
but it's not due to lack of trying!

Also, it obviously isn't good to have dates hardcoded; that means I have
to change the file every day manually. But I can't figure out a way
around that either.

If I can get this working, there's a good chance y'all won't need to put
up with any more pesky questions from me! (Thought I'd give you some
motivation! :)

Thanks,
Gail
