"last_modified" problem, help needed

hello, i am using libwww to get the last_modified
timestamp of a web page, 

my $res =
$ua->request(HTTP::Request->new(GET=>$this_url));

print $res->last_modified

....

if $this_url points to a ".html" file, 
$res->last_modified contain correct timestamp.
but, if it's a ".php" file, $res->last_modified get 
nothing, what's wrong? please help!

or, if there is any other method to get a ".php"
file's last modified timestamp?
