lwp-rget

Firstly, I haven't subscribed to this ML, so if that's a requirement,
someone please tell me to do so.

I'm trying to use lwp-rget on a NT4.0 system. My Perl is the "Standard
Perl (5.004) for Win32 for x86" off of CPAN.

My question is about lwp-rget's inability to save images that have
otherwise been correctly retrieved.

After looking at the source, I think the behavior centers around the
use of the save() function. It's using print() to write the retrieved
resource to file.

The problem is when the resource is an image, print() writes binary
information that's in $doc in string/text context, thereby ruining the
image.

Are there any workarounds or fixes?

BTW, I've no experience with byte-level file operations.

Thank you.
