Local Install Problems

Anything I'm missing?


I'm a medium-newbie (Know how to do things, but not diagnose when they don't
work)


My ISP is being annoying, and saying they don't have time to install libwww. 
So, I'm trying to do a local install.


They don't have the required modules either.


I downloaded everything (Modules and libwww) and stuck it in my directory, 'tar
-xvf'd it, and tried to install, but ran into a lot of permission errors.


Has someone out there done a local install of the whole batch that could just
tell me what step I'm missing?
