Is there such thing as a telnetd written in Perl?

I want to build a Chat server, and telnet seems the most backward-compatible
way of doing it (since then even text-only clients can join in). I doubt that
my ISP would let me run a "real" chat server program (assuming one was even
available for FreeBSD which they currently use), but since they let us run
our own CGIs, I wondered if there was something I could do in Perl (and then
I could modify it to act the way I want).

Anyone know?
