I would expect the extra COLOR parameter to be ignored (or perhaps to generate
a warning).

That's better, and probably good enough.  The biggest problem with the old
behavior (for me) was that HTML::LinkExtor quietly failed to extract all links
that followed </FONT COLOR>.
