What perl version do you use?  I know that URI::URL has problems with
perl5.003_17-22.  perl5.003_23 should be ok.

libwww-perl5.05 works with perl5.002 to perl5.003_16

libwww-perl5.06 (should) work with perl5.002 to 5.003_16 and
perl5.003_23 and better.

Does this explain your problem?
