how to LWP/POST ?

How does one use PUT, POST ? When I try simple things to a cgi script that 
works with forms from Mosaic, etc. my server times out.

(I'm still using lwp4, if it's any different...)

Has anyone implemented any of the other methods defined at W3, eg. LINK, 
TEXTSEARCH ? How about the new file upload method ?
