Password Module?

Hello,
   I maintain several password-protected servers for our group here at the Lab.
Has anyone considered/written an extension to MOMspider or libwwww-perl to
respond to a 401 with a provided uid/password?  If one DOESN'T exist I'm gonna
have to write one. 

   Flames about password probing to /dev/null please.  This is for a legit
project. (Several, actually)
