I think you've been looking at old stuff (URL _is_ an objet now). The
current modules I'm working on are on

The code you mention looks like what ALIWEB uses at the moment.
As soon as the libwww-perl5 has settled down I'll get ALIWEB to
use the new stuff instead.

It is an object. The question is if proxies should be implemented
using a URL subclass or externally. I'm considering changing back to
externally tonight.
I'm half in the mind to objectivy the Request functionality in the
same way the Responses are done at the moment, but am not sure yet.
