MOMspider & the library

Maybe it is because people on my site are idiots, or maybe it is something that can be rectified. But I have a problem running Momspider that also affects other projects. First, not everyone uses relative links on my server. They sometimes use absolute URL's and the biggest problem is that there are different aliases mapped to my server. It uses both grace.wharton.upenn.edu and opim.wharton.upenn.edu. I also need to tell momspider only to check those. It can't check any other *.wharton.upenn.edu addresses because they aren't mine.
What do I do when I configure MOMspider? I don't know.
I guess I need an "or" statement somehow.
Second problem: It has become popular for users on my server to type out the full path from tht httpd server root (ie <a href="/docs/academic/book.html">)
This became popular because no one uses file://localhost to open things on our server. Now it is popular everywhere. The impact on momspider is that doing file opens causes it to be unable to find documents because it thinks they are form the computer root and they are really just in the root of the World Wide Web document structure.
How can I solve this problem? Do I just set MOMspider to load everything with http://?
Thanks in advance for all replies. Please reply by e-mail.
